Slimfit

"Make it Worse" CD

Don't You Hate Pants?

Genre: country- rock, indie rock

Lancaster, PA

Jan 24, 2009

This gang of country-rockers takes a major cue from Cracker, whose melodic nature they emulate admirably. Make it Worse isn't up to par with the Californian legends' work, but it's a decent selection of competent songs. While Slimfit is guilty of some measure of filler on this record ("Easy to Talk To," "Old Song," "Pony Up"), they have also produced some seriously solid material here. Cracker ringer "That's Me" is a seriously delightful single, while "Wrong is Wrong" features a spectacular chorus and "Which Way You Gonna Go?" is a Lowery-esque anthem. While it could stand to be considerably more consistent, Make it Worse is nonetheless a strong, catchy country-rock album. I'll be curious to find out whether Slimfit will manage a greater concentration of their stronger material on their next disc - it sounds like they've got the chops to be a very good band.
