The Jayne Mansfield Death Cars

"Light as a Feather... ...Stiff as a Board" CS

Skrot Up

Genre: hey a tape recorder

Coldwater, MI

March 2010

The band's name is 'The Jayne Mansfield Death Cars' and they list 2 Girls 1 Cup as their website on Myspace, which I think gives ample insight into their neon-orange punk aesthetic. These twelve songs explore the art of fuckin' around, leaving in their wake a trail of junk guitar, off-the-cuff vocals, and more than a fair share of avant-mumbo-jumbo. I point the listener towards the electric guitar doodles, scattered percussion, and cacophonous vocal blathering of “Sticks,” or the Hasil Adkins-esque deconstructed rock single that is “Grease Fingers.” Other tracks exist as little more than senseless buffoonery (“Detroit 2077,” “Egg”). To put it objectively, I'm unlikely to listen to this manic adventure ever again. But, hey, it was some decently whacked-out fun while it lasted. I'm just glad it didn't last any longer than it did.
