Pre-Inventory is the cleverly-titled, limited-to-100 precursor to Brian Michael Roff & The Deer's album, Inventory.  Containing two tracks from the album and one exclusive number ("The Best is Yet To Come"), this offers a nice taste to get you geared up for the upcoming release.  Americana is probably a good word to describe the sound, as this is country-tailored folk-rock not too far away from the Anomoanon camp of things.  There is a hearty optimism in these three songs, from the uplifting guitar strokes of "This Yellowed Yield" to the relaxing quietude of "The Best is Yet To Come."  The whole disc carries a certain warmness that really gives it a personal touch.  The melodies take awhile to sink in, but they are there - while this isn't a record you'll necessarily be humming over and over again, it does compel you to keep it playing.  Overall, this is a good taste; unless you really want the exclusive track from this disc, though, you'd be better off going for the entire Inventory album.
