Blonde Redhead and Helium are good points of reference for this all-girl quartet who compose breathy, experimental pop songs. But then there's also the folky Cat Power / Julie Doiron styles of a track like "Act of Birth." It's a mix. Disjointed but together is how the songs come across, which can be a bit off-putting at first, but ends up rather nicely. The unsettling opener, "Deadline," is my favourite track on this all-too-brief four-song EP, with its mysteriously beautiful chorus starting the disc off in a magical mood. I want to hear more.
