Lanky

"Inner Onwriter" CD

Imposter Records

Genres: indie pop, indie rock, pop/rock

Sep 15 - 21 2003

What can I say? This is uninteresting. Lanky play average, carefree indie pop/rock filled with hooks and melodies, but they don't do anything new. Inner Onwriter, therefore, is fun, but full of fluff. However, it's hard not to like, as the band is very zesty and infectious in their approach to music. It's probable that these songs could fare well commercially if given the chance.

"Here We Are," the album's second song, is pure Lanky. A simple chorus is the tune's main focus; it is a happy, insanely catchy bit that will definitely bring a smile to your face. The more emotional tunes aren't as successful. Case in point: "Anybody," a whiny, boring track that is just annoying.

Lanky's Inner Onwriter is an album for fans of pop music that isn't afraid to go where others have gone before.
