The Lolls play youthful, spirited indie rock that combines a punk spirit with a pop sensibility.  Pop-punk, I suppose.  This here is their first seven-incher, and its got a very promising sound.

Side A boasts "Girlfriend," a two minute scorcher with a simple revved-up guitar / bass / drums backing and a catchy vocal chorus of "I'm in love with your girlfriend" that will stay in your head for days.  Aside from a brief harmonica bit, it's a very conventional, standard tune.

Side B loosens things up with "When I Think of You," a very infectious little rock number that downplays the punk aspect.  It's got a nice vocal/guitar solo trade-off and a bit of a Pavement influence in the song structure and singing.  It is definitely the better of the two tracks.

Altogether, this is a spirited couple of tunes about love that will please any discerning indie rock fan out there.
