This bumbleBEAR release continues in the label's tradition of hooky, en masse indie pop.  Murder Beach is your average above average Athens, GA pop band - no stranger to peppy vocals and sweetly juicy guitar hooks.  How Big This Is, a slick CDR release packaged in a comfy Ziplock bag, is your token Athens album - filled with twenty (count 'em!) infectious pop tunes that are just brimming in melody.

Though some of these tunes are a bit flat in the catchiness department ("Mermaid Underwear", "She's A Disguise"), there are quite a few amazing songs on here that make the ten dollar price tag worth the investment.  "Blue Sky" could be the album's best moment - its feedback-intertwined, upbeat melody is absolutely amazing.  Its revving chorus is enough to get anyone's feet tapping.  Another favourite is "Could Be Sleeping," a sweet, quiet pop tune that is comparable to some of Vancouver-based pop band Young and Sexy's work.

How Big This Is is an excellent album, and an amazing debut for Murder Beach.  Though some of these tunes aren't essential, there's enough material here to have anyone humming for weeks.  Recommended.
