Hometaper stalwart Kaw Tapes is the label behind this Shy Rights Movement lathe-cut 7".  These two songs are dark and lo-fi, sounding sort of like they've been recorded in a room adjacent the 4-track - but that's all part of the charm.  "The Solemn, Balanced Weight of the Hammer" is a strangely detached folk-pop tune.  "Only the Lost Can Find Their Way," meanwhile, has more a rock sound; its 80s-ish infectious chorus makes for a strong repeated listen.  There's lots of hometaped crap out there, but this is nothing short of enjoyable.  The duo of Mark Ritchie and Paul Doucét have created a record to be proud of.
