Sit Still Jonathan

Self-titled CD

Blanket Records

Genres: singer / songwriter, accoustic rock

Mar 28 - Apr 3 2005

As far as acoustic singer/songwriter indie pop goes, this sounds pretty average - however, it lacks the discernable hooks and melodies to keep a listener interested.  Sometimes it isn't bad ("Empty Photo Albums," parts of the too-long "Frustrated Song"), and at other times it's downright awful ("Clumsy Words," "Just a Small Statement").  Ultimately, a bit more energy and some more tuneful singing would be appreciated next time around - however, Sit Still Jonathan occasionally hits on a really solid, low-key guitar part that I can't help but appreciate.  Add a decent vocalist and a lot more variety, and this could be a stronger album.  For now, however, it is just a collection of tangled-up good and bad moments.
