Television Hill

"Twilight" CD

Teneral Records

Genres: alt country, country rock

Nov 8 - 14 2005

Baltimore-based alt country act Television Hill have put out a really diverse record with Twilight, one that occupies all means of mood and atmosphere yet retains a delicious country angle throughout.  I really like the bluesy country feel of "Mulberry Bush," and the communal folk sound present on "Bamako Express."  The wonderful twilight-y atmosphere of "Hostage Honey" makes it one of the strongest compositions on here, though the rocked out rendition of traditional piece "John the Revelator" - exemplary of the variety on this album - is also particularly strong.  Some of the music is a bit bland and drawn-out (why is "The King's Assassin" eight minutes long?), but as far as alt country goes this is pretty solid.  Worthy of note.
