Thaelo

"The Adeen EP" CDEP

Self-released

Genres: indie rock, rock

2005

Checking in at just over thirty minutes, this is a pretty long EP (especially considering it only houses five tracks), but more music is nothing to complain about. Thaelo, led by frontwoman Darcy Hudelson, play gradual, grungy rock music not far off from mid-90s wonders The Cranberries - except with longer, less immediately catchy songs. Bettie Serveert also comes to mind, especially on the meandering yet climactic "Oklahoma." At times the disc borders on irritating (the shrill peaks of "Dayview") but for the most part it's just standard, successful grungy rock. Don't expect the world, but if you liked The Cranberries or Bettie Serveert this is worth a listen.
