The Tenth Corner is psychedelic drone aficionado Vocokesh's latest offering, this time released on Portland's amazing Strange Attractors label.  Despite a lengthy hiatus between releases, Vocokesh leadman Richard Franecki has not become rusty.  Though this is a long release, it will not be considered dull at all by drone lovers.  These compositions are rich in spacey atmospherics and psych-influenced guitar "solos."

Though far from accessible, this disc differs from many other recent Strange Attractors releases in that it uses some relatively traditional musical structures.  Even an unmelodic, spacey epic like "Vibe #4" is given a repeated percussive rhythm and seems to be packaged in a definite song format.  "The Holy Mountain" also straddles the line between the traditional and the experimental, this time by way of a sparse rhythm and some tuneful choral singing.

Overall, this is a solid drone release that relies on strong rhythm and spacey guitar solos.  Its less unusual characteristics make it a suitable release for those seeking something to help them ease into the genre.  As a whole, The Tenth Corner is ideal listening for both drone beginners and scene veterans.
