We Came From Beyond Volume 2 is the second compilation based on Mike Nardone's legendary indie hip-hop radio show of the same name, and like its predecessor, it's a fine collection of terrific underground beats and rhymes. Among the big names are Esoteric, J-Zone, Aesop Rock, Wildchild, People Under The Stairs, Eyedea & Slug and more.  What's not to like?

Nardone's major asset is his eye for flow.  The songs on this disc, already very exceptional singles on their own, are assembled perfectly; the compilation, as a result, is a really funky disc that can be played over and over again without getting boring.  Some of the best tracks are the most laid-back ones.  The Black Love Crew's "Afro Joint," for example, is a delicious slice of ultra-melodic groove-hop; if there's anything better than its terrific chorus, its the track's relaxing yet still deviously danceable rhythm.  This is what plays on dancefloors as 2 AM draws near.

Also fantastic is People Under The Stairs' "Chollo Dad," a deliciously comp-exclusive piece of groovy hip-hop with a bassline to die for.  Lateef & The Chief Present Maroons' "Matter of Time," also previously unreleased, is another slice of awesome party-hop that you're sure to enjoy.

This is a terrific compilation for those wanting to get acquainted with some of the world's best current indie hip-hop acts.  There's just no questioning Mike Nardone - he's one of the finest hip-hop selectors around today.
