The pop music that Young and Sexy produce, both on their debut, Stand Up For Your Mother, and this album, Life Through One Speaker, is of such high quality you may never get over it.  Their songs are so overwhelmingly pretty and infectious - you can tell immediately that they could come from nowhere other than Vancouver.

I can safely say that, if given the chance, all of the songs on Life Through One Speaker will be stuck in your head.  Like the many truly catchy albums before it (Badly Drawn Boy's The Hour of Bewilderbeast, The New Pornographers' Mass Romantic,) Speaker finds its niche and sticks with it.  Pristine, glistening pop (think Belle and Sebastian crossed with a bit of New Pornographers oomph) is the name of the game, and Young and Sexy pulls it off with perfection.

"In This Atmosphere" is one of the album's best.  A slight shoegazer tinge characterizes this deliciously dreamy pop number, which runs the line between Oasis-esque Britpop and good old Vancouver indie pop.  The title-track, meanwhile, is a folky pop gem straight out of the sixties, complete with British Invasion-esque vocal effects.

Countless pop hooks, a very pretty atmosphere, and a wealth of unforgettable tunes makes Life Through One Speaker an utterly beautiful and monumental sophomore album.
